SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING

Thursday 9th December 2010
Commencing at 6.00pm
Blackpool Opera House, Winter Gardens

Branch members are urged to attend this vitally important Special General Meeting to discuss and VOTE on the Council's proposals to obtain your agreement to reduce terms and conditions in order to save £2.2 million which equates to 100 staff jobs, as part of the overall budget cuts strategy.

UNISON's Regional Officer, Mike Booth, will set out the full background to the cuts situation, the redundancies, and the effects of the proposals to cut your terms and conditions.

MAKE NO MISTAKE THIS SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING IS VITALLY IMPORTANT

The Council has given UNISON an absolute deadline of the 31 December 2010 by which to respond to the cuts proposals. If members don't agree a package of cuts to terms and conditions totalling £2.2million, the Council will issue 90 day notices from 1 January 2011 to change your contracts of employment with a more severe package of proposals totalling about £4.5 million.

We will debate whether you are prepared to accept cuts to your terms and conditions and pay, and then which combination of these proposals you would be prepared to accept, so long as the total sum offered up totals £2.2 million.

WE WILL BE VOTING ON WHETHER OR NOT TO AGREE A PACKAGE AND IF SO WHICH SET OF OPTIONS YOU WOULD AGREE

Subject to the outcome of this Special General Meeting UNISON will immediately issue a ballot either by email or post, SO YOUR VOTE COUNTS.
